Venezuelan teenager Victoria Nicole Sánchez, 13 years old, recently won the La Voz Kids competition in Portugal.
Victoria Nicole Sánchez received the most votes from the public following performing the song “My heart will go on” by Canadian singer Céline Dion.
“I am very grateful. Thank you all very much for voting for me and making me the winner of this season of La Voz Kids. I really appreciate you all and now I am preparing for Eurovision (a singing competition in Europe),” said the Venezuelan teenager following winning the award on July 7, 2024.
During her time on the competition, Sánchez performed songs such as “Bohemian Rhapsody” by the legendary band Queen and “Voilá” by French singer-songwriter Barbara Pravi.
The voice Kids
La Voz Kids is the youth version of The Voice Portugal, with contestants between 7 and 15 years old. The first season premiered in 2014, and the show returned for a second season in 2021.
Since 2021, the contest has been used to select the artist to represent Portugal at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
Grateful for Portugal’s vote
Victoria Nicol Sánchez’s family thanked her in an interview for the newspaper Aveiro of Portugal to the Portuguese for the vote for the Venezuelan teenager.
“I still can’t believe she won. It was a surprise that the Portuguese voted for her in that way,” shared Liliana Costa, Sánchez’s mother.
Costa expressed the importance of the award in his daughter’s career and stressed that it is a recognition of her years of preparation.
“The important thing is that she does what she likes, and what she likes is singing,” added Victoria’s mother Nicola Sánchez.

Sánchez’s first approach to music was when he was 4 years old, during a trip to Portugal with his uncles.
Venezuelan Victoria Nicole Sánchez is originally from Ocumare del Tuy, in the state of Miranda, and since she was 5 years old she received singing lessons.
In 2018, her family migrated to Portugal, where she furthered her studies at a music conservatory where she received piano and lyrical singing classes.
“Hello, I want to send a very special greeting to you in Venezuela. I also want to thank you for the support you have given me. I will continue to give my best to keep the name of our country always high,” said Sánchez in an interview for the social media account of Venezolano Yo creo en ti.
