A VARIETY OF LANGUAGES TO INTERPRET TODAY’S CHALLENGES: INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS AND LOCAL TALENTS PRESENT IN BERGAMO AND BRESCIA, ITALIAN CAPITAL OF CULTURE 2023

Bergamo and Brescia, Italy (ots/PRNewswire) Digital languages, installations, art exhibitions and photography: In different languages The Italian Capital of Culture 2023 interprets today’s changing reality from an unusual perspective, involving major international artists and local talent in Bergamo and Brescia.

The Lebanese visual artist Ali Cherri is showing his largest solo exhibition to date at GAMec with films, video installations, drawings and sculptures (Bergamo, bus 14. January). Through the story of a border guard in the self-proclaimed Turkish Republic of Cyprus, Ali questions borders, the construction of nationality and our conflictual relationship with the “others”.

From Turkey to CARME (Brescia, November 3rd – December 1st): The Turkish digital artist Ugur Gallenkus presents “Parallel Universes of War and Peace”in which inequalities and conflicts are highlighted by fusing war photographs with everyday reality in new images that underline the virulence of the conflict.

The Japanese Yayoi Kusama brings “Fireflies on the Water” to the Palazzo della Ragione (Bergamo, November 17th – March 24th), one of his most iconic Infinity Mirror Rooms with a central pond reflecting 150 lights that look like fireflies.

Fifty artists from Brescia and Bergamo are in “Presente Inquieto” (Bergamo, until November 12) who transform industrial traditions into an artistic interpretation of the needs of their communities.

“Watch me. Art as cure” at TheGate2023 (until December 7th) is a veritable therapeutic course that takes place in a photo laboratory with eight young people was developed from the neuropsychiatric services for children and adolescents of the Cooperativa Sociale Fraternità Giovani. Led by photographer Chiara Cadeddu, the young people embarked on a journey of self-discovery, viewing photography as a form of expression and healing.

Art and rights are the focus of the exhibition “Until we are free” (Museums of Brescia, November 10th – January 28th), which examines the position of women in the world and focuses on Iranwith images of Shirin Ebadi, the Iranian lawyer and pacifist who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2003.

The exhibition „The Boxer and the Victory” (at Brixia until November 26th) continues in Brescia with cultural events exploring the “Contemporaneity of the Ancient” with conferences and theatrical readings.
