In a tweet published on Saturday evening, Olivier Faure denounces a “ freedom to demonstrate hampered ” and an ” instrumentalized justice in Senegal, before asking for the release of opposition figures arrested during the demonstration on June 17. The boss of the French Socialist Party thus assures that “ Senegalese democracy is trampled ».

Words that quickly made the majority camp react in Senegal. In a comment on Twitter, Serigne Mbaye Thiam, Minister of Water and Sanitation, was indignant that ” the paternalistic reflexes of lesson givers arise “, as it’s regarding ” from a formerly colonized country ».

Father Mahaw Diouf, spokesperson for the Benno Book Yaakar presidential coalition, demands then: “ When will the end of this mental neocolonialism which allows you to meddle in the internal affairs of our country? »

Aymerou Gningue, president of the majority parliamentary group, split a press release: ” We thought of those bygone days, of seeing French politicians (…) interfering in our internal policies with so much lightness. »

The deputy has already planned to contact the France-Senegal parliamentary friendship group.
