The Algerian hydrocarbon company, Sonatrach, revealed, this Sunday, its results for the first five months of the current year and those achieved during the 2021 and 2020 exercises. In a press conference, hosted this morning in Algiers, the Director of Performance Management within the oil group, Mohamed Rochdi Boutaleb, announced a 70% increase in export turnover which stood at 21.5 billion at the end of May 2022. dollars, compared to 12.6 billion dollars at the end of May 2021.

During the last year, the Algerian company, added the same official, achieved an export turnover of 35.4 billion USD in 2021, an increase of 75% compared to 2020. According to him, this figure increased under the effect of prices, up to 76%, and volumes up to 24%. This increase, he said, was notably achieved thanks to a favorable context of the oil market, with an average price of 72.3 dollars/barrel of the Sahara Blend in 2021 once morest 41.9 dollars in 2020.

In addition, a gas market, also favorable, according to the same official, allowed the increase of national exports by gas pipeline by 54%, and by liquefied way by 13%. According to the same report, primary hydrocarbon production reached 79.2 million tonnes of oil equivalent (TOE) at the end of May 2022, up 2% compared to the results at the end of May 2021.

Going into more detail, Mohamed Rochdi Boutaleb, specified that the volume of hydrocarbon sales (exports + national market) amounted to 67 million TOE, up 0.3% compared to the achievements at the end of May 2022. , while imports of petroleum products reached a volume of 95,000 tons, down 14% compared to the same period.

With regard to the reception and commissioning of projects during the same period, the report presented cited the “Hassi Bir Rekaiz Phase I” oil deposit, carried out in partnership with the Thai public company for exploration and production Petroleum (PTTEP) and the Supervision Center for the Pipeline Network.

The same official indicated that during the first 5 months of the year 2022, the Sonatrach group also signed the 2nd contract for the exploration and production of hydrocarbons under the aegis of law 19-13, on the Zarzaitine deposit with the Chinese partner SINOPEC and the signing of contracts for the Methyl Tert-Butyl Ether “MTBE” Unit projects in Arzew and the LNG storage tank in Skikda.

“The report also includes the realization of four (04) new hydrocarbon discoveries, including one (01) in partnership”, he pointed out. Regarding the amount of investments made, he said that Sonatrach spent, in 2021, 4.4 billion dollars in the exploration-production segment, out of its overall investment budget amounting to 5.1 billion dollars. dollars.
