“A turning point” –

New twist on the Ustica massacre. The financiers of the Special Currency Police Unit have executed a preventive seizure decree, for a value of approximately 130 million euros, issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Milan once morest two pro-tempore members of the board of directors of the company Aerolinee Itavia Spa , the airline that owns the DC9 which crashed into the waters of Ustica, killing all 81 people on board. The investigators’ hypotheses concern acts of disposal of the company’s assets by the company’s directors, who, having obtained control of the management of Itavia, also becoming the majority shareholders, would have – according to the Prosecutor’s theory – almost eliminated the residual company assets consisting of the compensation paid by the Ministries of Defense and Infrastructure and Transport, following the legal proceedings related to the 1980 massacre.

In particular, two financing operations detrimental to the company’s assets ended up under the magnifying glass of the prosecutors, one for 130 million euros (never repaid) and the other for 45 million euros (the latter subsequently reimbursed), in favor of companies attributable to them. In particular, the 130 million euro loan was also used to pay off the bank loan used to acquire the majority stake in Itavia, thus strengthening the position of these directors within it. The investigations, explains the Lombard Prosecutor’s Office, have made it possible to identify how the sums, deriving from the 130 million euro loan provided by Itavia for the benefit of a financial holding headed by the two suspects, were reused for purposes unrelated to the concession of the aforementioned line of credit.

To comment on the news, contacted Carlo Giovanardi, former parliamentarian and minister with responsibility for relations with Parliament, who for many years has been fighting once morest those who continue to fuel theories different from that of the bomb exploded on board the DC9: “It is a striking development, it is a gigantic sum, to which we must add one thing that needs to be clarified, who took these millions? There is already a whole murky cover-up story, there are documents not yet made public, but incredible lies continue to be told, there are 34 versions of the air battle… We have never managed to understand who these administrators were and what they did, more what a rubber wall. The historical truth regarding Ustica has been obscured in the collective imagination by everything that was said and written subsequently. There was a criminal trial, there are technical reports, there is the opinion of the Italian government in Parliament, never contradicted by anyone in an institutional setting. This news is truly a turning point. The cause of the Ustica massacre was a bomb on board, let us remember that the generals were fully acquitted. The complete truth regarding the instigators and executors of the placement of the bomb on board the DC9 Itavia will come with time, as happened with the Dreyfus Case or with the Katyn massacre’”.

In particular, the judges who acquitted the four generals of the Air Force, maintain that there was no aerial battle in the skies of Ustica, as “no aircraft appears to have crossed the route of the Itavia plane as no trace of them was detected by the military and civil radars whose recordings were recorded on tapes by all technicians unanimously considered perfectly intact. The hypothesis that the plane was shot down by a missile has not been confirmed, given that the carcass of the plane bears no signs of the missile’s impact. Everything else, not being proven, is only the result of the press which has indulged itself in finding scenarios of war, hot or cold, an intervention by Libya, the presence on the spot of its leader Gaddafi and so on until trying to devise a ( false) connection with the fall of a Mig plane of Libyan nationality which occurred at a later date”.
