Around 1 p.m., for a still unknown reason, a Dutch semi-trailer skidded and placed itself across the national road which passes over the Barchon bridge. The right rear section has been stamped on the bridge railing and hangs above the E40 motorway which passes just below, in the direction towards Brussels.
Immediately, traffic was cut off on the Barchon bridge, which caused heavy traffic jams. But the right strip of the highway has also been closed, vehicles only passing on two strips.
Around 2:30 p.m., two large tow trucks from Bayard arrived on the scene and the movement of the semi-trailer was regarding to start. During the operations, we are told that, as a precaution, the E40 will be completely closed to traffic.
