It was around 9 a.m. that the emergency services were notified. A truck carrying pallets of fries overturned on the RN58. “The incident took place on the RN58 at the height of the Houthem road in the Warneton-Comines direction”, tells us captain Jimmy Lahousse.

“With the snow, the truck slid and overturned on its side. The urgency was to secure the area so as not to create other accidents. The driver got stuck in his cabin and we had to evacuate him through the windshield. The driver only suffered minor leg injuries and was taken to Menin Hospital.”

Currently, the firefighters are still on site to evacuate the 40 pallets of fries to be able to raise and evacuate the truck as quickly as possible. Traffic was put in a lane causing severe disruption.
