“It’s okay, he has motor problems but he’s exercising and taking walks. He’s doing everything he can because he wants to get back on stage, you know? “He wants to come back and I believe in him. “He is Charly García and the man who talks about him is David Lebón. A few days ago the guitarist gave an interview to “Diario RÍO NEGRO” before playing in Neuquen .
David Lebón was one of the first people to know that Charly García was going to make a new album and was the first one he called. David Lebón insisted that he become part of Lebón & Co., which he accepted and was
But here’s what happened: The guitar player asked Matías Sznaider, a 30-year-old young sound engineer who had been working with Garcia for a long time, to send him some songs to see how he could join the project. “We don’t want to send anything,” Charlie replied. Let him come here and record it, just like we have done all our lives. A few days later, Lebón took his guitar and pedals to the Happy Together studio near Caballito and recorded in several sessions the solo for “El Club de los 27” and some of the basics of “La Medicina N” .
Titled “La Lógica del Escorpión”, the album is Charly García’s 30th album in her musical career, her 14th as a soloist and her first in seven years following the release of “Random” (2017). An album. It is understood that the film will be released on Wednesday, September 11, and strangely, it will be exactly the same length as its predecessor: 34 minutes.
Cover art for “Scorpion’s Logic” The film is directed by Renata Schussheim.
Little was known about La Lógica del Escorpión until everything about it was known: “Garcia’s album is ready…. Let’s see if the record company screwed up and the boss put everything All done. The publication is accompanied by several photos of Charlie, sound engineer Rosario Ortega and Palazzo himself.
Exactly four months later, on April 24 of this year, Sony Music approached Coronel Díaz and Santa Fe’s legendary division to sign a publishing deal for the album. Just four months later, on August 5, it was learned that the book would be published in September, and eight days later, on August 13, on September 11.
Scorpio has good logic
Unlike Random, which previews The Happy Machine, we won’t have any previews for The Scorpion Logic. Everything will be revealed in three days.
In fact, a few people actually know what Scorpion Logic means. Early last week, the first listening session was held for a select group of journalists, who wrote down what they heard after their first listen (and the only one, at least until Wednesday, when the rest of us could do the same) everything.
They said it was good. very good. Unlike “random,” it sounds natural and gritty. The voice is what Charlie Garcia would sound like today, without any technical arrangements or make-up. It’s better that way, although it’s often difficult to understand what he’s singing about.
“Scorpion’s logic is… no logic! It’s luck (…) Luck is more important than a lot of stupid things”
Charly García told Roberto Pettinato in October 2021 that I somewhat foreseen the title of this album.
Eduardo Fabregat, journalist of Página 12 and one of the first listeners, wrote something real: “There is no point in pretending or hiding it: almost everyone approaches his new album with some trepidation.” He It’s Charlie Garcia as much as David Le Bon.
But it’s no coincidence that the same reporter said the same thing seven years ago when he first heard “Landon.” “Facing Charlie Garcia’s new album is hard to swallow,” he wrote in 2017. It delivers an album that lives up to its name, and it plays songs that remove all doubts, without the need to resort to annoying phrases like “Well, it’s got energy…” to heighten enthusiasm.
And, whether it’s 2017 or 2024, it’s getting more and more satisfying as soon as the sound engineer presses play and two albums start playing.
It’s always about the same thing: about the musician, not his music. Whether the musician is healthy or not. And Charlie, for a long time, was fine. Which, by the way, is a good thing for Charlie’s life. He lived on his own terms for 72 years.
There are no optional discs. There are better ones and there are worse ones. We may like some more than others. But everyone exists in a certain way for a reason. A work tells a lot about its artist, and each work tells a story about the artist’s time. While we don’t like them that much, the albums from the Say No More era say a lot about Garcia, which is why they’re necessary.
If part of his art is to give cosmic meaning to his creations, Fito Paes always refers to the “Picasso studio” when talking about “Clics Modernos”, such as the album on the stage of “Say No More” Clics Modernos in. These are confusing albums with no obvious direction.
But as Lebon tells us, Charlie is fine. Is the album good? have no idea. I don’t think I need to wait until September 11th to find out. Because I knew the only thing I needed to know about was new music from Charly García, which wouldn’t be too bad anyway. Not so now.
song
What do we know? Charly recorded about 20 songs, but 13 remain, including his own songs, covers and self-covers. Let’s take a look: Side A (since there will be a vinyl version, Charlie is responsible for thinking about the order of the songs): “break it”, a Spanish version of “Break it Up,” originally recorded in English on “Kill Gil” (2010, but actually a 2005 song from “Say No More”); “I already know”, Moog synthesizers and vocals by Hilda and Rosario Ortega; “Club 27”Lebón’s debut; “Drug No. 9”with some “Rap de las Hormigas” and a lot of the latest Beatles Lennon’s Revolution 9, with the original Garcia singing; “I remind you of winter.”Charlie has never been in a recording studio since the pre-Sui era. There is a live recording on the album “It was on fire when I lie down” (1995), signed by her as Casandra Lange; “suicide”, Fernando Kabusacki plays guitar and delivers intense rock music; and USA”, Side A ends with Pedro Aznar on electric bass, guitar, drums and vocals.
B side with “Juan Suppression”a unique song included on the uncensored version of Institutional Anecdotes. Charly, sung by Nito Mestre, can’t wait to lend his voice to the song; “meteor”accompanied by the looping melody of “Chipi chipi”; “Pelican and Android”perhaps the gem of the album, a song written by Luis Alberto Spinetta for his failed album with García and included on Privé (1986) middle. Both voices coexist in “Scorpion Logic” and they say the version is impressive and exciting. “Looking at the Wheel”, A Spanish version of a John Lennon song that ends with a fable of the frog and the scorpion recited by Charlie and Rosario Ortega; and “rock star”with Fito Paes.
In December 1991, Charlie blew up Ferro with Los Enfermeros. “The teacher is back, forever!” the man from Rosario declared that crazy night. He is right. It’s not for nothing that “Scorpion’s Logic” was released on Teacher’s Day.
