The shock was such that the unfortunate man was thrown 14 meters before falling heavily to the ground. A local resident who witnessed the scene immediately called the emergency services. But when rescuers arrived, Henri had succumbed to his injuries.

A Lantin

The police obviously went to the scene to carry out a report of use. That’s when a 29-year-old man showed up. He claimed to be the driver involved in the tragedy. The man explained that he had hit the pedestrian and that, panicking, he fled. He then went to his brother who advised him to return to the scene of the accident, which he did.

The driver then underwent a blood alcohol test which came back very slightly positive. In fact, it had a rate of 0.23 while the authorized rate is 0.22. It then turned out that the man was known to the judicial authorities for offenses, albeit minor, regarding driving. He was therefore deprived of his liberty.

The driver was referred to the Liège public prosecutor’s office on Monday. His case was put under investigation and the judge in charge of the case issued an arrest warrant. The man was imprisoned in Lantin prison.
