A total of 43 civilians have been killed so far in Ukraine as a result of the massive attack launched by Russia once morest kyiv and the Dnipropetrovsk region on Monday.

The death toll from the Russian attack on the Ukrainian capital continues to rise as the debris removal work progresses and has now reached 31 civilian fatalities, according to the latest report from the Kiev Military Administration, which puts the number of wounded at 117.

Although last night’s drone attack did not cause any casualties in the Belgorod region, the governor of that state bordering Ukraine, Viacheslav Gladkov, reported on his Telegram channel that four civilians were killed and another 20 were injured yesterday by Ukrainian artillery fire.

In the Rostov region, a drone crashed into an electrical substation and caused a fire that was put out by firefighters, the governor of the region, Vasili Golubev, reported on Telegran.

According to the authorities in the Astrakhan region, the airstrike caused a fire at a fuel depot.

For security reasons, airports in Astrakhan and Volgograd have restricted operations.

Volgograd Region Governor Andrei Bocharov said that fires broke out at an electrical substation and a fuel depot due to the fallout from drones shot down by air defences.

In addition, a joint drone attack by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the military intelligence service (GUR) caused several fires last night at a military airfield in the Russian region of Astrakhan and at energy infrastructure in the Russian oblasts of Rostov and Volgograd, sources from both Ukrainian services told the Ukrainska Pravda publication.

These attacks came following Russia launched dozens of missiles once morest several cities in Ukraine yesterday, causing nearly 40 deaths and more than a hundred injuries.

The Kremlin has denied that the Russian military is targeting civilian infrastructure in Ukraine following yesterday’s attack.

Rescue work continues at a children’s hospital in kyiv

Meanwhile, around 400 Ukrainian emergency services personnel are continuing to work on rescue efforts at the Okhmatdit Children’s Hospital in kyiv and other locations in the capital affected by the missile attack launched by Russia on Monday once morest the city, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday.

“In the places where the missiles hit, emergency and rescue work has not stopped all night,” Zelensky wrote in a message posted on his social networks, confirming that the death toll from Monday’s Russian attack on Kiev and the Dnipropetrovsk region in central Ukraine is now 38. Of these, 31 died in the Ukrainian capital.

The sights set on the NATO summit

Zelensky also wrote that his administration continues to work “to strengthen the protection” of Ukrainian cities from Russian attacks. “There will be decisions. The world has the necessary strength for this,” added Zelensky, who will arrive in Washington today to participate in the NATO summit.

Ukraine hopes to obtain new decisions from its allies at the summit that will allow it to better defend itself once morest Russian air strikes such as yesterday’s.

kyiv is demanding complete freedom to strike enemy military targets within the territory of the Russian Federation with its partners’ weapons and to be able to neutralise at source and preemptively the attacks of the Russian Army.

The United States and other allies continue to impose restrictions on the use of their weapons on Russian territory for fear of a reaction from Moscow.
