Michelin reveals a road-legal tire concept containing 45% sustainable materials.
Approved for road use, the tire concept intended for automobiles offers performance levels strictly identical to current Michelin tires.
The Michelin project tire incorporates natural rubber, recycled carbon black, oils such as sunflower oil, biosourced resins, silica from rice husks, or even recycled steel.
The integration of sustainable materials in the development of Michelin tires does not compromise on the performances and does not degrade the environmental impact of each stage of the life cycle: design, manufacture, transport, use and recycling.
Michelin’s concept tire obtained from 45% biosourced materials foreshadows the technologies of future Michelin tires in the next two to three years.
