Two students (15 and 16 years old) from the same Liceo 27 de Junio, and an 18-year-old young man are allegedly responsible for the first case of mass poisoning in Portuguesa, which occurred on November 7, in the town of Turén. One of the hypotheses used in the case is that it is a viral TikTok challenge.

The incident left more than 114 people intoxicated, the majority were female students, who suffered fainting, seizures, difficulty breathing, and irritation on the skin, throat, eyes and nose. 25 of those affected still remain hospitalized.
“The two teenagers, with an adult, made ‘the cocktail’ and used the substance in a spray, beginning to spray it in the environment of said institution“, reported the afternoon of this Tuesday, November 12, at a press conference, the Secretary of Citizen Security of Portuguesa, Commissioner Luis Medina.
He explained that research indicates that it is a viral challenge, but that other hypotheses are not ruled out.
Poisoning in Portuguese: Clonazepam, with a type of toxic chemical
The three involved used a type of barbiturate, which according to police sources linked to the investigation of the case would be Clonazepamin addition to a powerful herbicide (to be determined), and even formaldehyde.
The police chief indicated that Cicpc officials, who from the beginning have been in charge of the investigations of this first case of poisoning, collected plastic and glass containers at the scene.
They also took the affected student uniformss and all this evidence was sent to the Toxicology Division of the detective body, andn Caracas, for all analyses.
Likewise, he reported that once the case became known, these investigations began, and several hours later, information arose from the same students of a person that was possibly related to the events.
“His phone was searched, verified and reviewed and participation was determined,” Medina said.

“We are being objective in the research and we do not rule out any hypothesis. AND“We are working based on this information and the first arrests we are making, the intelligence work with the telephone equipment collected, the evidence and the information that we are collecting,” he indicated.
Even so, he assured that there is an act that is also being investigated by a unit against the territory of the Cicpc itself.
“We are going to be forceful in the face of these types of cruel events. We are in the presence of actions that have the intention of producing chaos. When the intention is to produce terror, we are in the presence of a case of terrorism”, he stated.
Finally, the authorities asked parents and representatives to be attentive and maintain supervision and control of children and young people, in order to prevent this type of challenges from being repeated and claiming the life of an innocent person.
