It was in a press release published on its official website (FSF.SN) that the football body announced the withdrawal of the two attackers from the national team. “The players Boulaye Dia and Ismaila Sarr who were called up for the Senegal-Algeria friendly match on September 12, 2023 were injured during training sessions,” indicates the FSF.
“Clinical and ultrasound examinations revealed a lesion of the rectus femoris muscle for Boulaye Dia, and a lesion in the left hamstrings for Ismaila Sarr,” specified the Federation, indicating that the two players who will be unavailable for at least two weeks, were released to join their respective clubs.

Sabaly uncertain
Regular starter at right-back, Youssouf Sabaly (30 years old, Betis Sevilla) is also on the verge of forfeiting. Between Sarr, Mendy, Boulaye Dia and perhaps Sabaly, it is therefore with a reduced team that Aliou Cissé’s troops will present themselves in front of the selection of Riyad Mahrez, also deprived of several elements (Bennacer, Aouar, Bentaleb , Belaïli, Slimani).
