The town hall of Pré-en-Pail-Saint-Samson wants to revive a nugget that had been abandoned for almost 30 years: the Émile-Lemaître room built in 1933. It served for several decades as a theatre, auditorium and cinema, in an art-deco decor.
A theater abandoned for almost 30 years will have a new life in Pré-en-Pail-Saint-Samson. It is in any case the will of elected officials of the municipality and inhabitants. They want to rehabilitate the Émile-Lemaître room, located near the town hall. It was built in 1933, adjoining the girls’ school.
The place served as a theater and cinema, it has kept its art-deco style with Italian-inspired paintings and decorations. But the room is no longer up to standard. It has ceased all activity since 1993. An association will be created this Thursday evening to be able to set up grant files, in particular with the Heritage Foundation and the mission of Stéphane Bern, who has just given his support for the renovation of the Giuseppe Tribus theater in La Bazouge-de-Chéméré.
An opening to the public on the occasion of Heritage Days
On Sunday, September 18, you can exceptionally discover the Émile-Lemaître room during Heritage Days. It will be open for a few minutes at 7:45 p.m. this Thursday evening, before the meeting scheduled for 8:30 p.m. in the Benjamin-Merchin room.
