Peggy Jones actually wanted to go into the garden with her husband on the evening of July 25th Silsbee, Texaswhipped into shape as the couple witnessed a biblical-tinged event: A large snake fell out of the blue, landing on Jones’ right arm and wrapping itself around it.

The reptile had apparently freed itself from the grip of a falcon during the flight – because just a few seconds later it also landed on the 64-year-old’s arm to retrieve its prey. In this exceptional situation, both animals not only fought each other, but also attacked Jones.

Serious stab wounds and lacerations on arm, snake bit her face

“I tried everything to shake off the snake, but it just wrapped itself tighter around my arm and squeezed it tighter,” Jones told the local newspaper Silsbee Bee. “The hawk kept swooping down out of the sky to snap at her. It would hit me with its wings and tear my skin open with its claws. That’s also where the deeper cuts come from.”

At the same time, the snake, believed to be a five-foot diamond rattlesnake, snapped at her face, shattering one of her glasses and spraying a liquid – believed to be venom, Jones said. “I kept screaming, ‘Help me, Jesus!'”

Doctor asked if she had taken drugs

When her husband heard the screams, he drove to her on the lawn mower tractor. Before he arrived, she was finally able to shake off the snake, the hawk finally caught her and flew away for good. However, Jones’ arm was covered with “countless stab wounds and cuts” and she was bleeding profusely. Luckily the snake didn’t bite her.

After Jones’ husband drove her to the emergency room at the nearest hospital, she told the incredulous doctor her story. He then asked her if she had used drugs.

In the end, she was stitched up, but the physical wounds were the lesser evil than the “traumatic shock” she experienced, Jones said: “I have the feeling that it is thanks to the grace of God that I am still alive live and can tell my story.”
