A taste of Tour in the Alpes-Maritimes

On February 17 and 18, the 2024 edition of the Tour des Alpes-Maritimes will pit some of the best French riders in the peloton once morest each other.

In 2024, the Alpes-Maritimes are celebrating. On the occasion of the next Tour de France of course, with a final arrival in Nice. Also in March, with the traditional Paris-Nice Race to the Sun. But also in this month of February, with the Tour des Alpes-Maritimes. A two-day event, which brings together quite a field.

Indeed, the day following the Classic Var which is being held this Friday, many have chosen to stay in the area and take part in the Riviera event. This is the case, for example, of Romain Grégoire, who will be the leader of the Groupama-FDJ team. The young French talent will notably have to face a Decathlon-AG2R La Mondiale team with the presence of Benoît Cosnefroy and Aurélien Paret-Peintre.

Very fit since the start of the season, Kévin Vauquelin (Arkéa-B&B Hotels) will be one of the favorites for the event. The experienced Guillaume Martin (Cofidis) and Romain Bardet (DSM-Firmenich Post NL) will be there to oppose him on a course which should suit versatile runners.

This Saturday, place 165.5 kilometers between Levens and the Antibes Azur Arena. The second part of the course is a circuit around Valbonne, suitable for a movement race. On Sunday, the favorites will be out departing from Villefranche-sur-Mer, heading towards Vence. The passes of Eze (507 meters), Châteauneuf (629 meters), Carros (340 meters) and the rise of the Sine (334 meters) enhance this short but nervous Sunday route.
