Swedish singer Lauren won the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool.
And the British “BA Media” agency stated that the singer, who previously won in 2012, made history as the first woman, and only the second person, to win the competition twice.
Lauren scored a total of 583 points, following the audience and jury votes were combined, and narrowly surpassed Finnish singer Kariya, who scored 526 points. Lauren performed her dance song “Tattoo” or “Tattoo” to the international voting audience, as she was singing from a closed, lit venue on the stage.
Her victory means she equals the record held by Irish singer Johnny Logan, who won the competition in 1980 and 1987.
With this achievement, Lauren dedicates her country, Sweden, to the seventh and record victory in Eurovision, 49 years following the “ABBA” team won the award for the first time for the song “Waterloo”.
“I’m so excited,” Lauren told reporters.
“It’s like coming back to the family,” she added, comparing her victory this year to 2012.
The 67th edition of the competition was organized in Liverpool (the city of pop) instead of last year’s winning Ukraine, which was unable to host the competition this year due to the Russian war.
The organizers managed to strike a balance between expressing what is happening in Ukraine and the need to avoid any overt political messages required by the rules of the contest.
