A surfer’s worst nightmare has been immortalized in a terrifying photo. (illustrative photo)

ANIMALS – Photographer Jordan Anast probably took the snapshot of his life last weekend from San Onofre beach, halfway between The Angels and San Diego, en California. During an annual competition, he managed to capture a large shark white as he jumped out of the water behind a competitor in full action (see the picture below).

“What an exciting 24 hours have passed since this photo was posted”, reacted on his Instagram account Jordan Anast. This is “non-stop media coverage and my phone, email, text and website keep blowing up. »

With this great white shark perfectly framed in the background, almost entirely out of the water, “It’s a shot I’ll never get again”, he told theOrange County Registerhe who thought at first to see “a big dolphin”. “It just sounds like ‘Sharknado’, it doesn’t sound real. »

A known breeding ground for juvenile great white sharks

The photographer estimates that he has taken around a million shots over the years at this popular surfer spot in California, before capturing THE photo last Saturday around 11 a.m.

San Onofre protected beach is a known breeding ground for juvenile great white sharks.

Stories of great white sharks have been told for decades, including two famous sharks, Fluffy and Bumper, which lived in the area for a time, the report recalls.Orange County Register.

It’s not the first time a shark has jumped out of the water during a surfing competition. In 2019, it happened at the USA Surf Contest in Lower Trestles, just north of San Onofre Beach. In 2021, the WSL finals were put on hiatus when a shark leaped into the sky near surfers.
