Building on the success of the cancer prevention half-day, Dr. Jilliane Barbance announces new initiatives.
Following the half-day organized on January 27 at the multipurpose hall by health professionals from the Lectourois multi-professional health center (MSP), in partnership with the League once morest cancer, doctor Jilliane Barbance spoke regarding the results and future initiatives for cancer prevention. “We are all directly or indirectly affected by cancer. However, it is very often a taboo subject because it is scary. Talking regarding it is already doing prevention. This is why we have undertaken a collaboration with the League once morest Cancer, which set up a branch a few months ago in Lectoure”, explains Jilliane Barbance.
During the half-day at the multipurpose hall, “the idea was to address the issue of cancer, its prevention and its screening by going into contact with patients, outside our offices, by leaving the usual paradigm. We we are fortunate to work in a rich multidisciplinary team, within our MSP. The whole group coordinated with the help of the League once morest cancer to make this morning a success; and the feedback from the participants confirmed us We informed and conveyed simple messages to those present, such as the importance of eating well and moving well in the prevention of cancer. We also spoke regarding four cancers and their detection: breast, colon, cervix and prostate”, shares the doctor with satisfaction.
An orientation forum dedicated to healthcare professions
Building on the success of the cancer prevention half-day, Jilliane Barbance has no shortage of projects. “The creation of a discussion group once a month in Lectoure, for cancer patients and their families, was discussed. This group is organized by Doctor Hélène Renard and our psychologist Clara Lub. “other days to talk regarding other cancers such as skin cancer or bronchial cancer. Why not have a day on neurodegenerative diseases, which isolate the patient and his entourage? Soon, on Friday February 17, we will organize jointly with the principal of the establishment, an orientation forum dedicated to health professions at Lycée Maréchal Lannes in Lectoure. We will be in contact with high school students to promote our professions.”
