A high school in Daegu is preparing for a school trip to Jeju Island for 4 days and 3 nights from the 5th.
Approximately 160 second year students participate.
On the 5th and 6th, as the whole of Jeju was directly affected by the typhoon, all schools in Jeju Island were closed or remote/reduced classes were decided.
The school said that if the impact of the typhoon is large, it will be mainly conducted indoors.

“Once we get a flight, we hold onto it in the direction it is going.”

“Of course, there are such things, but if there is a typhoon on the day we go, we wait safely at the dormitory…”
Parents are worried that there will be safety issues.

“I thought it was going to be a drama, but from that moment on, Jeju Island will be in the center of the typhoon, and we will just do indoor programs until the 6th or 7th…”
The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education has the authority to decide whether or not to proceed with the school trip, but the policy is to adjust it according to the typhoon situation.
[대구시교육청 관계자]
“The school is making that decision right now, and we also look at the situation tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, so if necessary, the Office of Education will also give an opinion.”
The school said that it will be carried out as much as possible as it is the first school trip since the corona crisis and it is not easy to adjust the schedule, but it will watch the situation until the end and make a final decision.
