Manga and anime conventions have already left Japan and become popular for decades, but cosplay culture is relatively recent and more and more people get confident enough to dress up as their favorite characters and attend conventions or even make money with it. Of course, a convention is the perfect place to cosplay “without being judged”, but someone decided to take advantage of this to take some viral photos.
was the middle Anime Corner the one who shared a series of photographs of a subject at the convention Anime and Cosplay Expo (ACX) 2022, held in the Philippines on July 16 and 17. This is one of the four annual events of the initiative Cosplay Mania in the country, and is described as an event whose objective is “see the best of all things anime, cosplay, gaming, collectibles, virtual idols, and Japanese music at a convention like no other“.
But going back to the photographs, we can see a subject who decided to ask the cosplayers to pose by stepping on him, while a third party took the photo. Certainly a rather peculiar pose, and some suppose that it is a reporter from Anime Cornerwhich would make sense given that the outlet was promoting the event quite vigorously in the days leading up to it.
Let’s take a look at some of the photos:
- Kaguya-sama: Love is War.
- Tantei wa Mou, Shindeiru.
- Kimetsu no Yaiba (this one is quite interesting, because the girl dressed as Daki shows a sign with the text “I will step on you for 50”. Since it is in the Philippines, it is understood that it is 50 Philippine pesos, which is equivalent to 0.90 US dollars).
- Komi-san wa, Komyushou Desu.
