A stylus for the iPhone? Apple would have considered it

According to a message published on Weibo, and relayed by the leaker Duan Rui, Apple would have considered marketing an Apple Pencil to accompany the release of the iPhone 14. But the idea would have been abandoned at the last minute.

The information, which does not come from a very reliable source, tells us that this new Apple Pencil would have cost 49 dollars (which is not much for an Apple product), and would have been compatible with the iPhone and with the iPad.

At that price, the stylus wouldn’t have offered pressure-sensing technology or a battery. Instead, Apple apparently developed a chip that powered the stylus through the screen. A technology already used by Samsung with its S-Pen stylus.

Also according to the message posted on Weibo, Apple had already manufactured more than a million copies before the cancellation of the project. So, will the Apple brand one day offer a stylus for the iPhone, an accessory that some people have been waiting for?

We will have to wait for the next Keynote reserved for smartphones (i.e. in September 2023) to find out.
