An American study revealed that vaccinating pregnant women once morest corona may protect infants following their birth, and lead to fewer children being admitted to hospitals if they contract the virus. Researchers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said during a briefing that this study is the first to show potential benefits for infants born to people who received two doses of the “Pfizer” vaccine or the “Moderna” vaccine during pregnancy. “Until this study, we had no data to prove whether these antibodies might offer protection to the infant once morest COVID-19,” said Dr. Dana Minnie Dillman, an obstetrician and researcher at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It was already known that the antibodies developed by corona vaccines are transmitted to the fetus through the umbilical cord, but there were no data, prior to that study, proving whether or not these bodies provided protection for the infant once morest corona. It is noteworthy that the infants in the study were treated in 20 hospitals and within 17 states from July 2021 until mid-January, during jumps in cases that included the “Delta” and “Omicron” mutants. The researchers examined the data of 176 children under the age of 6 months who were hospitalized due to corona, and 203 who were admitted to hospitals due to other health conditions.
