A strong performance by SV Ried in Altach was rewarded with just one point

Thanks to Seifedin Chabbi (55th), they deservedly led away until the 73rd minute on Saturday, but then Atdhe Nuhiu equalized. Ried gave a clear sign of life, but could only celebrate one win in the last 14 games.

Ried coach Maximilian Senft called for courage and intensity and should have been very happy. With aggressive pressing and a quick game into the lead, his team sought the way to the Altacher Tor and found it several times. But being the much more dangerous team wasn’t enough. More than a weak finish by Chabbi (5th) did not look out for the time being. The striker later slammed the ball over it from short distance (24′), Lukas Gugganig cleared his lob over Altach goalie Tino Casali with an overhead kick just before the line (34′).

The fact that it was 0-0 at the break was flattering for Altach, who hardly developed any offensive power in the first 45 minutes, let alone created chances. Stefan Haudum fired Altach’s first shot on goal in the 23rd minute, Samuel Sahin-Radlinger saved easily. The start of the second half was all the more surprising: After Ried’s initial defensive uncertainty, Jan Jurcec shot to the side netting (47′), shortly afterwards Sahin-Radlinger had to stretch hard when substitute Jan Zwischenbrugger shot from long range (49′).

Ried struck back after a brief moment of shock and was rewarded for his efforts in the 55th minute: Chabbi sailed up after a Pomer corner and headed in the missed chances. Another ten minutes later, the veteran increased Christoph Lang’s lead to 2-0 after a long pass and a header, but Altach’s grace period was extended for offside. And the “Ländle” squad used it: Nuhiu threw himself into a rebound from the pole and reshuffled the cards.

Ried was also closer to victory in the finish – and was twice unlucky: Chabbi headed against the bar (77′), Aleksandar Lutovac also knocked his head on the crossbar (83′).

Maximilian Senft (Ried-Trainer): “We don’t mourn at all, we’re a bit upset that we didn’t get the ball over the line a second time. But we put in a very good performance. The team implemented our plan very well, and that’s paying off. We We have to reward ourselves for that too. It’s obviously down to our scoring of chances. But I have faith that scoring chances will improve as well.”

Klaus Schmidt (Altach coach): “It wasn’t our day today. The basic virtues for such a game in such a situation weren’t there. Both defensively and offensively it was manageable today. But we made a difference, we’re still alive and well. We have to But we have to show another side in the next few games if we want to win again. We were last at the beginning of the qualifying round. Anyone who thought we were playing for seventh or eighth place lives in the land of a thousand pointed caps. It will a fight to the end.”
