Twenty-six (26) wilayas of the country are placed in strong orange vigilance, indicated the services of the Office of Meteorology.
According to the BMS, the heat wave will persist from this Saturday at 6 am until Sunday at 3 am.
The wilayas on orange alert are: El Tarf, Annaba, Skikda, Jijel, Béjaïa, Tizi Ouzou, Boumerdès, Algiers, Tipaza, Aïn Defla, Chlef, Relizane, Mostaganem, Mascara, Aïn Témouchent, Sidi Bel Abbès, Oran and Tlemcen.
Eight other wilayas are placed in yellow vigilance, namely Guelma, Constantine, Mila, Bouira, Blida, Tissemsilt, Tiaret and Saïda.
The mercury will display in these wilayas between 42 and 46° C.
HEAT ALERT: 3 wilayas placed in orange vigilance
Scorching temperatures will affect three wilayas in the center and west of the country on Saturday and Sunday, indicates a special weather report (BMS) issued by the National Meteorological Office.
These are the wilayas of Aïn Defla, Chlef and Relizane where the temperatures will fluctuate between 43 and 44° C, specifies the BMS placed at the “Orange” vigilance level.
