A strategy to draft Wright AND Slafkovsky

Shane Wright or Juraj Slafkovsky? Why not the two of them!

Instead of having to choose between the two prospects, TVA Sports analyst Maxim Lapierre offers the Canadiens a strategy to select both Wright and Slafkovsky in the draft next month. See in the video above how he would go about it.

“As the repechage is in Montreal, it takes a show. You gotta go for the home run and get the first two picks,” he suggested during the first intermission of Game 3 of the Eastern Finals between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the New York Rangers.

“I know it’s going to be complicated, but the team also has a pick at the end of the first round (the 26th) and another at the start of the second. Trade that and veterans to the New Jersey Devils, who already have a lot of youngsters, make a big trade and we won’t be wrong. If we have choices 1 and 2 and we are wrong, there is a big problem.

Only three untouchables

According to the former agitator, only three CH players should be considered untouchables.

“You have material to complete a transaction, so why not give it a try? You offer any player to the Devils, besides Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield and Alexander Romanov, to have the second overall choice.

Present alongside Lapierre on the set, ex-defender Alexandre Picard shared the same opinion.

“We need to speed up the process. You can have the two young people immediately in your training and build around them, ”he said.

According to the director of the NHL Central Scouting Bureau, Dan Marr, it is difficult to get a clear head on the identity of the future first choice.

For several months, Wright was tipped to become the first choice of the 2022 vintage at the Bell Center. If this possibility remains real, the suspense will continue until July 7. Slafkovsky is increasingly seen as a potential first choice. Another attacker, Logan Cooley, also comes up a lot in discussions.
