Mar del Plata, year 2007. A father and his youngest daughter park the car and walk together to the Auditorium Theater, which will be his “office” during the summer, to begin the first rehearsal of she in my head. The little girl enters that “sacred temple” and sees the only woman who acts in that play on stage and says: “I want to do that”. That girl is 26 years old today, but that day she continues to be recorded in her head as if time had not passed. The protagonist of this story has a first and last name: Laura Grandinetti. In an intimate chat with THE NATION the actress spoke about her beginnings in the art world, reflected on her relationship with her father Dario Grandinetti and revealed the new challenges he is facing: he will direct a miniseries and travel to Madrid to continue his training.
Daughter of the former model and actress Marisa Mondino and of Dario GrandinettiHe said that he grew up with very present parents who always instilled in him enjoyment. The first summer, after the couple separated from her, she accompanied her father to spend time in Mar del Plata, the city where she is from.

At a young age, he began his acting classes. She was educated at the school of Julio Mouth y Hugo Midon and also with Julio Chaves: “I used to go to the theater at night to see my dad and I saw that this was what I wanted to do and I deposited it in my classes.”
Her parents supported her decision to become an actress, but made it clear to her that I couldn’t work as a girl. “I always knew that the only thing I could do about it was go to my classes and train to do it when I finished school,” he said.
Laura made her theater debut in 2014 with Personalitya work by Javier Daulte. “It was once a week and my old man was in the cast. The condition was that the rehearsals fit into my schedule so that I wouldn’t miss school.”.

“Doing commercial theater, rehearsing and having performances from Wednesday to Sunday, I was very excited”recognized the young woman who that season was recognized with the ACE to Breakthrough Actress. “He was great. The only thing he did not want was to clash in the work. They are three beasts and I wanted to live up to it. I feel that I was, that I managed to enjoy and continue trying. In the theater, she feels “at home” and enjoys not only what happens on stage, but also below: arriving at the dressing room two hours early, establishing relationships with the cast and crew, and Live firsthand the dreams you had since you were little: “after dollhouse For me it was being where I have always been, but also because of my dad”.
Since I was a girl, Laura showed interest in her father’s work. When he traveled to Spain to record, the family tried to go for a few weeks to be close and whenever possible he accompanied him to the theater, where he also they had the opportunity to work together. They share the same passion, accompany each other and provide feedback, contributing from both sides, that of “experience and training”.

“We talk a lot, but in general, although the question is always ‘how is filming going? And what about the crew?'” she said with a laugh and assured that she “enjoys like crazy” internalizing in a set of filming. “I think that he is calm with like me and my brother Juan, who is also an actor, we are linked to the trade. It is not about just going and doing it, but we enjoy the process and share that enthusiasm, ”she reflected.
But, just as some children choose professions completely contrary to those of their parents, others decide to follow the same path. The point is that in the artistic environment, many times they have to bear the “weight of the last name”. Laura assured that this was not her case and she today has a very formed opinion about it.

“I feel that maybe if today she was an actress who hit her and suddenly she’s on TV and in many of the Argentine movies that come out, maybe that thing of ‘why is she there?’ would be linked. But, I am where I choose to be, in the castings that remain, in the projects that I self-manage and that have nothing to do with my last name. Even if that didn’t happen, I’m very calm because of my training, because of how I connect with my work and what I like to do. I don’t feel like anyone picked up the phone and called me by my last name.; I have no record of it happening, so I don’t feel like anyone can think of it because not part of reality”.
Laura had the illusion and the expectation that the successful season of after dollhouse and the coronation with the ACE would be a “push” for new job proposals to appear. But, the pandemic arrived and when the curtains rose again -slowly-, the works that had been underway arrived on stage and she was not in any. It was then that she found herself in a dilemma, because that which he had always projected was “truncated”, but at the same time it gave him the opportunity to remake his own art. He realized that although he loved acting and to this day he does, he would not “die” if he did not work on it and managed to give it a healthy return to your life.
In the second half of 2019 he began to study Curatorship and Cultural Management and three years later he received. Today he carries on Grua a venture with his partner, Yanina.
“We work with two artists in the presentation of books and the production of events and that is where curatorship comes in a bit, which is think about an experience for the user, from what he does, to what he drinks, smells and hears when he goes to a place. We are experimenting with these issues, in the production and accompaniment of artists who want to find a language and an identity for their work”, said Grandinetti.
It is precisely from the hand of Grua that his next project comes from, this time audiovisual, which will demand a new challenge from him. The relationship she has with the cameras is very intense and marked her considerably. “There is something that moves me a lot about cinema that has to do with the team. One is being filmed and it is her body, but there is a work behind that is moving; that something is filmed with all the areas behind it, working and doing, It’s the closest thing to a miracle I know“, accurate.
