A step ahead.. Commercial tools to sell digital assets and services on Metaverse

Facebook owner Meta Platforms announced in a statement Monday that it will begin testing commercial tools to sell digital assets and services through its virtual reality social platform Horizon Worlds, a key part of its plan for the Metaverse universe.

Meta said in a statement that the tools will be initially available to a carefully selected group of users who create virtual places, games and fashion accessories through the company’s platform that depends on providing a user-friendly experience, which can be accessed through virtual reality devices that are placed on the head.

With a single tool, this select group of users will be able to sell their accessories or offer paid access to the niche digital spaces they are building, the company said.

The social media giant is also testing a program for a small group of Horizon World users in the United States to offer monthly payments to participants for using the company’s new features.

In a conversation with early adopters conducted inside Horizon World using avatars, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said, “We want there to be only so many wonderful worlds, and for that to happen, there must be a lot of creative people who can support themselves and make it their job.”

The company is investing heavily in virtual and augmented reality technology as part of its new bet on Metaverse, a futuristic idea of a network of virtual worlds accessible across different devices, where users can work, socialize and play.
