(Ecofin Agency) – The use of more advanced technologies to manage port operations is beginning to interest more and more African port operators keen to improve their performance.
APM Terminals Liberia has upgraded its Container Terminal Operating System (TOS) from NAVIS 2.5 to 3.8. The technology, which the operator says will be used for the first time at facilities in sub-Saharan Africa, incorporates smart and innovative ways of working that aim to constantly improve operational processes.
The deployment of this tool is in line with the port process digitization plan underway at the port of Monrovia. The improved functionality of NAVIS 3.8 allows, according to APM Terminals, efficient use of the system which automatically generates invoices to customers.
« This is particularly effective for refrigerated freight invoicing where the previous version 2.5 required manual intervention. The 3.8 upgrade also supports several features that facilitate the new digital truck appointment system and has many features and controls to avoid any potential loss at the terminal”.
“Our customers have told us they want their cargo delivered quickly, safely and efficiently, and our recently upgraded TOS is the perfect platform to help us achieve this.”said Thomas Moore, Commercial Director of APM Terminals Liberia.
