The novel “A Starry Night” by the Syrian writer Youssef Al-Khader will be published soon by Dar Hachette Antoine/Nofal.

It was stated in the summary:

The past resurfaces in Adam’s life, as if to shake its monotony: an unbearable job, a destitute family life, a single friend called Rowad, and time spent at Mama Samia’s café. During one of his sessions in the café, the past reaches him through an unknown man named Edgar. Although he had never seen him before, the strange man invites him to his apartment. He reveals to him secrets that still resist decomposition despite the passage of decades. Pandora’s box is opened for him, and the unexpected comes out of it. Years following her death, his mother appears once more, confirming that the dead do not disappear completely. Rather, they are able to penetrate life once more, and change the destinies of the living… In this tight and unexpected plot, the novel also monitors the effects of wars without mentioning them directly, tracing their impact and self-scars that become more entrenched as their memory advances in age.
