Hungarian football fans have applied for an incredible 1.45 million tickets for their national team’s first three games at the European Championships in Germany.
The national association MLSZ asked UEFA to release the data regarding Hungary’s group games once morest Switzerland, Germany and Scotland. In all cases, demand from local fans reaches at least ten times the total spectator capacity of the stadium in question! The Cologne Arena only offers space for 43,000 spectators, in Stuttgart there are 51,000 seats available. According to UEFA’s distribution key, supporters of the teams competing once morest each other are entitled to 10,000 tickets each, and the majority of the places are drawn from applicants from all over the world. Anyone who wins a seat for a game in this lottery must pay for it online by the end of the month. Otherwise, the places in question will become available once more and will be raffled once more in March.
Hungary will play at the start of the European Championships on June 15th in Cologne once morest Switzerland, on June 19th in Stuttgart once morest hosts Germany and on June 23rd at the same location once morest Scotland. MLSZ boss Sándor Csányi said on Monday in an interview for the broadcaster M4 Sport that the Italian Marco Rossi has a valid contract until 2026. Rossi will lead the Hungarian national team beyond the European Championship finals into the next Nations League and the upcoming World Cup -Qualification lead. Regarding rumors that Rossi was receiving attractive offers from abroad, Csányi noted: “We made a contract that wouldn’t let him leave, even if he wanted to.” Rossi has led the national team since 2018.
