CAF has formalized the establishment of gauges in the stadiums of the African Cup of Nations. It was set at 80% of the stadium capacity for Cameroon matches and 60% for other teams.
CAF made it official this Tuesday, January 4, there will be a lot of public in the stadiums preparing to host the matches of the Africa Cup of Nations within a few days. The presence of supporters has long been uncertain due to the global health situation due to Covid-19, but the instance finally ruled, considering that a ” drastic limitation of stadium gauges for the CAN Total Energie 2021 was not necessary as it stood in Cameroon “. She recalls in passing that Yaoundé has not imposed any measure in this direction.
80% gauge for Cameroon
« On a voluntary basis, However, CAF continues in a circular made public, and in addition to the preventive measures already adopted, (…) the following gauges will be applied until further notice: 80% of the stadium capacity for the stadiums hosting the Cameroon team, 60% of the stadium capacity for the other matches ».
The host country therefore benefits from preferential treatment since its matches will be able to accommodate more spectators. This surprising measure might thus allow Indomitable lions to take advantage of the massive support of its supporters.
The CAF specifies, however, that these gauges might be revised according to the evolution of the health situation. ” We will ensure the proper implementation of all health precautions taken, to avoid making our competition a source of contamination. », She concludes.
