Al-Marsad Newspaper: Dr. Sami Al-Hamoud, an expert and counselor in addiction, explained the signs that appear on the addict, and how the family deals with it.
Discovery addiction
He said during an interview with the “Yahla” program: “Denial is a feature inherent to the addict, so you find him denying his problem and addiction at the beginning and not realizing that he needs treatment until following 5 years, according to a social survey that was conducted in the Kingdom.
He continued, “Families in Saudi Arabia take regarding 3 years to discover that they have an addict,” adding that there are signs of addiction that families should know.
Symptoms Appear On addicted Shabu
And he continued: “Signs of shabu addiction include excessive chatter, agitation, unbalanced activity, aggressive outbursts, dry lips, dilated pupils, and the addict scratching his skin a lot, just as the addict grinds his teeth.”
He added: “The addict is dealt with with containment and wisdom, not expelling him from the house, resorting to a specialized opinion to know how to deal, and the family tries to enhance the motivation of the addict to take the treatment decision.”
