A source inside Al-Ahly club confirmed that the officials of the Red Castle expected to reject the complaint submitted to the Court of Arbitration for Sport once morest the Confederation of African Football (CAF), regarding the CAF Champions League final stadium.
Al-Ahly will meet Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca next Monday in the final of the African Champions League at the Mohammed V complex in Casablanca, Morocco.
Al-Ahly submitted its complaint to the court because the final was held on the same stadium for two consecutive years, and one of the two sides of the meeting was given the preference to play at its stadium and in the midst of its fans.
A source in Al-Ahly – who refused to reveal his identity – said in Laila Koura’s statements: “We expected that the complaint would be rejected by the Sports Court, and for this we were keen to make it clear in more than one statement that it might be accepted and considered, or rejected, so as not to deceive the fans. “.
He added, “The idea of us filing an official complaint once morest CAF is in itself a positive thing, because we have proven a grave injustice once morest Al-Ahly, far from the outcome of the Sports Court ruling.”
He concluded: “The African Union is trying to mislead public opinion by not revealing the reasons for Senegal’s withdrawal from organizing the Champions League final, and we must now focus with the team in its mission because it is a duty and necessary so as not to distract the players and the technical staff.”
