Books – Ahmed Gomaa:
In its April 27 issue, the Official Gazette published President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s decision, No. 177 of 2022, to pardon journalist Hossam Mounes, accused in the Hope Cell case.
The decision stipulated in its first article that “the prison sentence imposed on the convict, Hossam Mo’nis Muhammad Saad, shall be pardoned, in Case No. 957 of 2021 C Emergency State Security of Ancient Egypt.”
Case 957 of 2021, known in the media as the “Cell of Hope,” includes Ziad Al-Alimi, Hisham Fouad, Hussam Mounis, Hussam Nasser Kamel, Muhammad, Bahnasy Massad and Fatima Ramadan.
The Public Prosecution accused the accused of spreading false news and disturbing public peace and security.
The republican decision comes hours following the Egyptian family’s breakfast, during which the president directed the reformation of the presidential pardon committee and the expansion of its competencies.
The president also directed a broad national dialogue with all currents, stressing that “a difference of opinion does not spoil the homeland’s cause.”
