Hello Marine! The Geminids are visible in our sky between December 7 and 17 with an expected peak during the night from Wednesday to Thursday. This phenomenon is due to a cloud of dust that the Earth passes through at this time of year. As they enter the atmosphere, these small particles will burn and give rise to shooting stars. The weather will not be the most favorable for observing them but behind a cold front on Wednesday, we are expecting some clearing which would allow us to enjoy this beautiful spectacle, especially in the western half of the country. Then, it will be more complicated, especially during the night from Thursday to Friday when low, fairly opaque clouds will weigh down the sky.

Early in the morning, or even already at the end of the night, a new area of rain will approach Hainaut, Flanders and the south of the Ardennes with continuous rain. This precipitation will cover the entire country before 9-10 a.m. and may leave 5 to 10 L/m² especially in the southern provinces and particularly Luxembourg. At the end of the morning, showers will take over at the coast where the sky will slowly open up.

In the followingnoon, we will pass through more unstable air with frequent more active showers over the Ardennes, but also late in the followingnoon near France. Indeed, a small cold pocket at altitude will reinforce the instability with good gusts from the southwest and occasionally a clap of thunder. The maxima will still be mild with 7 to 12°C and a small calm will appear in the evening with more active showers on the coast.
