Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo responded to rumors regarding his team’s desire to include Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, during the current summer transfer market.
Cerezo told the Spanish program “El Partidazo De Cope”: “I don’t know who invented the story of Cristiano Ronaldo, it is incorrect news, his transfer to us is impossible.”
Press reports claimed earlier that Atletico Madrid wants to sacrifice its French player Antoine Griezmann in order to include Ronaldo in the team this summer.
Ronaldo returned to Manchester United on Tuesday to hold talks with management regarding his future, and to meet with new coach Eric Ten Hag.
Cristiano missed the preparatory camp for United, which started regarding 3 weeks ago in East Asia, due to family circumstances, according to what the club officially announced.
Ronaldo has a contract with the Red Devils until the summer of 2023, and the administrative and technical staff hopes to persuade the player to stay, and tempt him with the new project.
And Cristiano played 38 games with the team, last season, in which he scored 24 goals and made 3 goals.
