The Daniel Maghen house is auctioning a hand-drawn board by Albert Uderzo this Wednesday. This is a page from the fourteenth album by Uderzo and Goscinny, released in 1969: “Astérix en Hispanie”. This plate, in Indian ink, is estimated between 130,000 and 150,000 euros.

The record for a drawing by Uderzo is the cover illustration of the album “Le Tour de Gaule”, in gouache and colored inks, sold for 1.449 million euros including fees in 2017.

“A perfect skit”

The board illustrates the meeting between Asterix and Obelix (and Idefix!) and the young Pépé, an Iberian child that the Romans kidnapped and took to Armorica, near the irreducible Gallic village. It is dedicated by the author to a journalist, Bernard Delattre, on the occasion of his birthday.

Pour the Daniel Maghen house
this board is “a perfect skit with its Rgrotesque omains victims of the slaps of our Gauls, is characteristic of the talent of Albert Uderzo, capable of adding gags to the gags of René Goscinny”.

This Wednesday’s auction, devoted to comics, is also an opportunity to buy drawings of Goldorak, by Go Nagai, and Astroboy, by Osamu Tezuka.
