London announced, on Thursday, new sanctions once morest Iran targeting three generals and an arms manufacturer “responsible for supplying Russia with suicide drones” to bomb Ukraine.
The United Kingdom joins the European Union countries that imposed sanctions on Tehran earlier Thursday.
“By handing over these drones, Iran is demonstrating a relentless pursuit of combat, taking advantage of Russia’s heinous attacks once morest Ukrainian civilians,” the British government said in a statement.
Similar to the European Union, London is targeting through these sanctions the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, the logistical official, General Sayed Hojjatullah Qureshi, and the commander of the drone unit in the Revolutionary Guards, General Saeed Akjani.
The sanctions also target Shahid Aerospace Industries, which is linked to the Revolutionary Guards.
British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly considered these rallies “evidence of Iran’s role in destabilizing global security.”
“By making these strikes possible, these individuals and the (mentioned) company have caused untold pain to the Ukrainian people. We will make sure that they are held accountable for their actions,” the minister added.
Ukraine accused Russia of using four Iranian-made drones to bomb Kyiv on Monday and said its air defenses had shot down 223 Iranian-made drones since mid-September.
On Wednesday, Russia and Iran strongly denied at the United Nations that Tehran had handed over armed marches to Moscow for use in Ukraine.
