A series of receptions in Ain al-Tineh.. This is what Berri discussed with his visitors

Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri received Melanie Hounstein, resident representative of the United Nations Development Program in Lebanon, at the headquarters of the second presidency in Ain al-Tineh.

The Speaker of the Council also presented the general conditions and the latest developments during his reception of a delegation from the Board of Trustees of the “Assembly of Muslim Scholars” headed by Sheikh Ghazi Hanina, who said following the meeting: “We were honored to meet the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Professor Nabih Berri, and we informed his country of his opinion on the circumstances the country is going through And the difficult social and economic conditions that the citizen is going through, and we conveyed to his state the concerns that we hear from the citizens in our meetings with them in the mosques and public events. It only happens through consensus among all components, and if not, then through consensus of a majority that secures the arrival of a president who, in cooperation with everyone, can start the reform process.

Sheikh Hanina added, “And we assured his country,” that the loyal Lebanese are betting on his wisdom and patriotism in leading a serious dialogue that leads to the election of a president who is strong and capable of facing the crisis the country is going through. His country has assured us that he is seeking such a dialogue and will start it when the favorable conditions are ripe, and he is seeking to elect the president of the republic today, before tomorrow.”

He added: We affirmed to the President, that we call, during the constitutional vacuum in the presidency, for the ministers in the caretaker government to carry out their duties in securing the necessary supplies for the citizen’s steadfastness in the face of the crises that the country suffers from, and we affirmed that the meeting of the cabinet should be limited to the necessary issues that cannot be It can only be solved through this meeting, out of keenness to combine people’s essential needs with the need for separation of powers.”

Hanina pointed out that “the citizen expects the House of Representatives to play its full role in issuing laws that protect the citizen and ensure a decent life for him, and the most important thing in this field is the adoption of a law that allows depositors to recover their money from banks without defect, with an emphasis on the need to expedite the issuance of this law.” .

He added: We talked regarding what is happening in occupied Palestine in terms of heroic confrontations, and the views were identical in that the bet must remain on resistance and national unity, as they are the only option that preserves the rights of the Palestinian people and protects them from the arrogance of the Zionist enemy.

In the followingnoon, Speaker Berri received the Regional Secretary of the Arab Socialist Baath Party in Lebanon, Ali Hijazi, where they discussed political developments.

Hegazy said, following the meeting: “We were honored today to meet the President, and we stressed the need to respond to the call for dialogue that he launched, because any stand once morest dialogue is a stand once morest the national interest, especially as the country is going through political, economic and financial crises. We are surprised that there is someone who has it at this stage.” Sensitive in the history of this country is the ability to stand once morest the principle of dialogue in which an opinion will not be imposed on any of the parties, but rather a real attempt to open channels of communication between the Lebanese political forces. This dialogue, which is supposed to result in reaching the election of a president for the republic, because the acceptance of the logic of vacuum is also the surrender of continuity. The crisis and its deepening, and this we do not believe serves any interest of any of the Lebanese parties.

He added, “The call for electing the President of the Republic also aims at calling for the regularization of the level of institutions, and we avoided many sharp political discussions, especially with this tension in sectarian discourse and the exaggeration of some events and turning them into national issues, knowing that they are transient issues.”

He added: “Therefore, in order to avoid many discussions that are not supposed to be a focus of attention, throwing accusations, and attempts to exclude and cancel the solution is through dialogue that results in the election of a president for the republic, and I think that is in the interest of everyone. It is not always permissible to bet on the outside, the inside must have a real role in reaching the election of a president.” The Republic shall begin immediately to reorganize the work of the institutions, and we reaffirm the need to form a corrective government following the election of a President of the Republic, because it is not proper for the Lebanese governments’ tasks to remain the treatment of intractable diseases with painkillers.

Hegazy concluded: “We need a corrective government in the hope that some Lebanese parties will wake up to the seriousness of the situation and they will hasten to respond to every call for dialogue and reject an invitation from there, because that sends a negative message, as if there is an insistence on leaving the country in a state of emptiness.”
