Abdullahian wrote in a tweet on his official Twitter account: “Admiral Shamkhani’s visit to the UAE and Iraq takes place within the framework of the existing security relations, and is not a new phenomenon.”
Abdullahian added, “The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs accompanies him on his tours, and there is coordination in foreign policy, and everything is within the framework of the system and under the supervision of the President of the Republic.”
The Iranian foreign minister concluded his tweet by saying: “Let the enemies know, there are no differences,” referring to the existence of differences between government agencies in Iran regarding the new developments.
Shamkhani is scheduled to head next week to the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, at the head of a security delegation to sign an important security agreement with Iraq, according to Iranian media.
The Iranian Mehr Agency said, “The official visit, which will be made by the Secretary-General of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, General Ali Shamkhani, to Baghdad, comes with the aim of signing security agreements.”
And the agency indicated, according to a report, that “the Iranian side, through Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdullahian, officially informed Iraq of the scheduled visit of the high-ranking Iranian official, through a verbal meeting that brought Allahian together with National Security Adviser Qassem Al-Araji.”
Lahian expressed his regret at the failure to implement the previous agreement between the two countries to form a joint supreme security committee between the two countries to follow up on borders and security developments in the region, according to the agency.
Abdullahian also confirmed to Al-Araji that Iran “categorically rejects” the presence of groups he described as “hostile and separatist” within the borders of Iraq, noting that “the continued presence of these groups, especially in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, is unacceptable,” as he described it.
And the Iranian foreign minister indicated that “the visit of the Secretary-General of the Iranian Supreme Council will witness the signing of security agreements on this aspect,” according to the agency.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian visited the capital, Baghdad, last month, and met with a number of officials, and discussed with them relations and common files between the two countries, including the investigation into the assassination of Qassem Soleimani.
Shamkhani, an advisor to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, visited the UAE on Thursday at the official invitation of the UAE National Security Adviser, Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
During his meeting with Tahnoon bin Zayed, on Thursday, Shamkhani stressed that his visit to the UAE is a starting point for starting a new chapter in the political, security and economic relations between the two countries, stressing that “cooperation and rapprochement in the Gulf region must replace disagreement and hostility.”
