The late Queen Elizabeth II of Britain wrote a secret letter to the citizens of Sydney, Australia, which was hidden inside one of the city’s most famous buildings, but it will not be read until 63 years later.
The British newspaper “Daily Mail” reported that the Queen Victoria building in the business district of Sydney contains a secret message from Elizabeth II, adding that “there are strict instructions not to open it until 2085.”
The Queen penned the letter following major renovations to the building in November 1986, and not even her own staff know what she wrote.
The letter is framed in a glass case, and only the Queen’s instructions are visible from it.
The instructions read: “To the Mayor of Sydney, Australia… Please open this envelope on a convenient day of your choosing in the year 2085, and pass on my message to the citizens of Sydney.”
