“A bustling sector. » This is how a local elected official described the small town of Sainte-Radegonde on Sunday, which has been struggling for many years to stabilize a municipal council. Voters were thus invited, this Sunday, December 10, to vote once more, all 11 council seats having to be renewed following a cascade of resignations, including Mayor Robert Hardy. The latter did not appear. The 338 registered voters had to decide on the nine members of the Croire en Sainte-Radegonde list led by Jean-Claude Guillaume, and a “solo” candidacy from Louis Lhoste.
How did we get here ? “No doubt Robert Hardy [qui n’a pas répondu à nos sollicitations, NDLR] wasn’t he ready,” said someone close to the case, without risking an analysis. The fact remains that relations between the town’s chief magistrate and his 2020 running mates quickly deteriorated. Jean-Claude Guillaume was one of them. He cites disagreements in the management of the municipality. “I was a simple municipal councilor,” says the sixty-year-old. I found myself handling thorny issues in his place. I talked to him regarding it. This didn’t go well. I resigned in January…”
Two left
He finally decided to run once more. His list includes four other outgoing elected officials and four new candidates, some having already served under another mandate. Only nine names out of the 11 required. “We had too little time to prepare. But we already have two candidates to put forward for the second round. » Which was inevitable, in view of the electoral code, to complete the council, recalls Henry Betbeder, president of the special delegation, who has managed the current affairs of the commune since the beginning of November, with Carole Ancla and Bernard Lesot. It also specifies that each candidate, to be elected, must gather in his name more than half of the votes cast, but also a quarter of the number of registered voters.
Are elected following counting the 150 votes cast (around twenty ballots being declared invalid): Jean-Claude Guillaume, Kevin Bello, Didier Boucard, Marie-Christine Capy, Dominique Guffond, Cédric Laumond, Philippe Maury, Jean-Pierre Perrier and Fabienne Saurin , from Believe in Sainte-Radegonde.
