A new case of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) has been reported in Senegal. After the first case (the patient eventually died at Dalal Jamm Hospital), this second case was reported to Linguère, according to a health source.

This disease, transmitted from animals to humans, affected a shepherd who had consulted a health structure in Linguère. The authorities treated this case with the greatest precaution as soon as the suspicions of the disease were evoked, and samples were taken and made it possible to confirm the diagnosis.

It should be noted that this area is mainly dedicated to animal husbandry, which increases the risk of transmission of this zoonotic disease. This new case is the second reported in Senegal, following the death of the butcher in Dalal Jamm, in Guédiawaye, on April 21.
