Actor Harishree Ashokan said the death of late actor and mime actor Kalabhavan Hanif was completely unexpected. No one even heard that he was sick. Harishree Asokan says that he is yet to recover from the shock of hearing the sudden news of his death. The friendship with Hanif started before working at Kala Bhavan. Harishree Ashokan says that his role in ‘Ee Paakkum Thalika’ was a landmark role for actor Hanif and Hanif did it very interestingly. Harishree Ashokan was speaking to Manorama Online while paying tribute to Kalabhavan Hanif.
“I have not yet recovered from the shock of hearing regarding Hanif’s death. I came to know this information when I was sitting in a meeting. He didn’t even know that Hanif was unwell. I was shocked to hear the unexpected news of his death. He was my very close friend. We have done many programs together even before working at Kala Bhavan. were together in Kalabhavan. After I left Kalabhavan, we have not done much stage show together but I have done programs together with Hanif, Sudarshan, Jayaram, etc. Later we both came to the cinema. They have done several films together.
Recently, Hanif was in a film I acted in. We didn’t have the combination. The shooting was in Mattancherry. Hanif was seen at that time. That was the last meeting. Used to call in between. Hanif played a very interesting role in ‘Ee Pagkum Thalika’ which we did together. It was a great role. Hanif played the role well. The groom in it is a character that marked the star Hanif. At the end of the film, a scene was shot where I and Dileep were brought in to kill someone. But for some reason that scene might not be included in the film. It was a fun event.
A good friend has been lost with Hanif’s demise. When the time comes, everyone should go. It will happen one way or another. I am deeply saddened by the loss of my dear friend. Shares the grief of Hanif’s family.” – Harishree Ashokan says.
