Al-Marsad newspaper: Russian geriatrician Kirill Proshaev announced that the Mediterranean diet and physical activity slow down the aging process.
The Russian doctor added, in an interview with URA.RU: “Currently, two non-pharmacological agents have appeared in our arsenal. They are a specific diet and a specific pattern of movement.”
The specialist notes that during movement, a substance is produced in the body that prevents many vascular diseases.
He says: “Under the influence of a number of factors, the body produces the gaseous hormone – nitrogen oxide, which helps dilate blood vessels, lowers blood pressure, and enhances the resistance of the vascular wall to the atherosclerotic process.”
He adds that diet is also a major factor. Therefore, the World Health Organization recommends a Mediterranean diet.
