(CNN) — Colombia’s teenage forward Linda Caicedo is healthy two days following collapsing in training, coach Nelson Abadía said Saturday, adding that the terrifying incident was partly due to the pressure of playing in her first Women’s World Cup. .

Caicedo, who is expected to play this Sunday when Las Cafeteras take on Germany at the Sydney Football Stadium, stopped during training on Thursday, then put a hand to his chest and lay down on the pitch as his teammates and staff doctor came to his aid.

“It’s just an incident, I was tired,” Abadia said. “She was also a little stressed, because she was playing her first World Cup… (which) has great relevance. And she is 18 years old. She’s a girl when it comes to soccer. But she has a great capacity and a great character to assimilate all that.
“That is why she is one of the players in the world today who is a rising star. And it was just one episode, it’s over, it’s over. We are very happy with this. No problem”.

Caicedo became the youngest player to score at this World Cup in Colombia’s 2-0 win over South Korea, firing from midfield and shooting from the edge of the box.

Assistant coach and son of Abadía, Mario, described the young player as “from another planet.” Caicedo has played in three World Cups this year, with the Under-17, Under-20 and Senior teams. She made her senior team debut at 14 and was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at 15.

Nelson Abadía will not be sidelined with Colombia this Sunday as he is serving the second of a two-match suspension from FIFA for a red card he received at the 2022 Copa América.

“I was just joking and said that I really believe in them and I am so convinced that what they are is a team that I told Lady (Andrade, the veteran Colombian midfielder) that I can go home now, I can watch the game. on television, and I am quite sure, I am quite happy and convinced because I know what his capacity is,” said Abadía.

“It’s different… you visualize much better when you’re on the field. However, the emotion I have is exactly the same, whether I’m on the pitch or up there, it’s the same.”

Colombia and Germany are even at the top of Group H with three points each. The Colombians face Morocco, who lost 6-0 to Germany, in their final group match on August 3 in Perth.
