The birth allowance it increases retroactively from births made from 1/1/2023, from 2,000 euros for each child to 2,400 to 3,500 euros, i.e. there is an increase of 400 to 1,500 euros, depending on the number of children.
The beneficiary is the mother who resides permanently and legally in Greece and has an annual family income of up to 40,000 euros.
The birth allowance was adjusted and is proportional to the number of dependent children in the family (as it is formed following the birth of the child).
Until recently, the aid was 2,000 euros and was paid in two equal installments of 1,000 euros, regardless of the number of members in a family.
But now the aid is increasing and is structured as follows:
- 2,400 euros, for those who have a child
- 2,700 euros, for those who have two
- 3,000 euros, for a family with 3 children following the new birth
- 3,500 euros, for the fourth child or more
The 1st installment is granted the month following the child’s birth, if the application is submitted and approved within the month of the child’s birth. The 2nd installment will be paid following 5 months from the month of the child’s birth.
The payment of retroactive allowance amounts for mothers who gave birth following January 1, 2023 will be made in April in two equal installments.
