A retired police officer was shot to death in the abdomen following being intercepted by two motorcycles at the door of his home in the Buenos Aires town of Berazategui.
The event occurred this Sunday, around 10 p.m., on 125th Street and 7th Avenue. There, the retired Buenos Aires Police captain Hugo René Martínez (64) was shot by criminals who were traveling on two motorcycles, according to police sources. to Telam.
Martínez was leaving his home aboard a Ford 4×4 truck when he was intercepted by criminals who wanted to rob him. The man gave the voice of “stop, police” and came to draw his weapon, but was attacked by shots by the assailants.
“He identified himself and took out his weapon. That’s when they fired several shots at him. We are still trying to establish if he actually fired, since 9-millimeter caliber shells have not yet been found, ”explained one of the researchers.
In the place, several pods served from the weapons that the criminals would have fired, which will be expert, were found.
After the attack, Martínez was urgently transferred to the Evita Pueblo de Berazategui Hospital, where he was admitted conscious, but died this morning, around 6, as a result of the injury suffered.
The fact is being investigated by the prosecutor of the Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) 2 of Berazategui, Christian Granados, who following the death of the retired police officer labeled the case as homicide.
Investigators are analyzing security camera footage from the area to identify the suspects.
