Rabat – A resident at the local prison of Oued Zem has suffered from a rare and chronic neurological disease, which is not linked to the conditions of his imprisonment, the administration of this penitentiary establishment said on Sunday.
In a clarification in reaction to a video published by an electronic site and in which the family of one of the prisoners claims that he suffered from hemiplegia within the penitentiary establishment, the same source specifies that the resident received the necessary medical assistance within the establishment as well as being transferred to an external hospital more than ten times, and was able to undergo thorough examinations including an MRI, before he was admitted to the Ibn Rochd University Hospital Center in Casablanca, June 07, 2022.
Medical examinations revealed that his addiction to drugs and psychotropics before his incarceration impacted his nervous system which caused him a rare and chronic neurological disease, continued the same source, specifying that this has no connection with the conditions of his incarceration within the prison establishment.
